Tanzania safari Best time

Best Time For Tanzania Safari

The best time to visit Tanzania is from June to October, during the dry season. The weather is mostly clear, there’s very little rain, and the grass is shorter, which makes it much easier to see animals on safari. This is when you can spot the Big Five in the Serengeti, watch the Great Migration, or enjoy a magical hot air balloon ride over the plains.

By June, the long rains begin to fade and the main safari season starts. Roads dry out, wildlife gathers near water sources, and game viewing becomes excellent across the parks. It’s also a great time for walking safaris in private reserves, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and relaxing in Zanzibar, where the ocean is calm and perfect for beach activities.

From November onward, Tanzania enters the rainy season. Temperatures rise and afternoon storms become more common. The heaviest rains usually fall in April and May, which can make safari travel difficult, with muddy roads and fewer wildlife sightings. As the rains end toward late May, the weather cools down again and travel becomes comfortable, leading into another great safari season.
